Energy Challenges Common Among Island Communities
Thursday, August 16, 2012 at 12:46PM (Hawaii Public Radio) Many island communities like Hawaii face significant energy challenges, with high levels of imported oil, skyrocketing electricity rates and limited land and funds to develop clean technologies. Mark Glick, of the Hawaii State Energy Office, states Hawaii is on track to meet its clean energy goals and various entities and political jurisdictions have replicated Hawaii programs. The Asia-Pacific Clean Energy Summit wrapped up this week, with many island communities looking to Hawaii for guidance. Nikki Motson reports from the Asia Pacific Clean Energy Summit and Expo.
