ACHIEVING ENERGY INDEPENDENCE FOR HAWAI‘I
Where Are We Now and Where Must We Go?
Panelists:
Theodore (Ted) A. Peck, Administrator, Strategic Industries Division
Dept. of Business, Economic Development and Tourism, State of Hawai'i
Michael Chang, Hawaii Energy Efficiency Program
Remember how oil at $150 a barrel impacted our energy bills two years ago? Well, it could happen again, and Hawai‘i's massive dependence on imported petroleum makes our economy, our security, and our way of life seriously vulnerable to both rising oil prices and shortages. The objective of the Hawai‘i Clean Energy Initiative is to meet 70% of Hawai‘i's energy needs with clean energy by 2030. It can be done, but it will require the cooperation of commercial and residential building owners, managers, tenants, and AOAOs. Find out what you and your facility can do NOW to make the difference while saving money.
