ENERGY EFFICINECY
IN HAWAI'I
Hawai‘i can only meet its 70% clean energy goal by 2030 if all residents and businesses does its part in reducing our energy use. 30% of this goal focuses on energy efficiency and conservation measures. To put this into perspective, a 30% efficiency goal is equivalent to shutting off all power on the neighbor islands plus 1/3 of Oahu. Although this seems bold and uncertain to achieve, it is possible. Just keep in mind that the small steps you take to reduce your energy use can add up to a powerful impact on Hawaii’s overall energy consumption. The Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism (DBEDT) State Energy Office - Efficiency Branch, Hawaii Energy (State Energy Conservation Administrator), and the U.S. federal administration has implemented programs that will help reduce the cost burden for taking efficiency measures in the form of subsidies, grants, loans, rebates, financial incentives, and other financial programs.
This site will help you explore options relevant to Hawaii and help you focus on taking significant strides in becoming more energy efficient.
